’s-Hertogenbosch, which almost everyone calls Den Bosch, is the capital of North Brabant and one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands. Its centre is compact enough to cross on foot in fifteen minutes, yet it is packed with history: the Gothic Sint-Janskathedraal, the triangular Markt with its statue of the painter Jheronimus Bosch, and narrow streets lined with restaurants and cafés.
